1 Installing and Using the PC Software
1.1   Why do I need the PC software?
The Canon Photo Channel software consists of 3 utilities:
  • Photo TV Link – This is the software you use to upload photos from your hard drive to your Photo Channel.
  • Photo TV Link Direct – This is a special utility just for Canon Powershot digital camera owners.  When connecting a Canon camera to your computer, you will have an option to send photos directly from the camera to your Photo Channel.
  • Print TV Link – This software receives photo prints from your TV and sends them to your PC printer.
1.2   How do I get the PC software?
You can download it from http://canonphotochannel.twmaine.com/download/index.htm.
During installation, you will need to enter the Print Link ID that you received in your Welcome Kit e-mail.
1.3   What is a Print Link ID?
The Print Link ID is a unique 12-character code that links your PC software with the digital cable box (or boxes) in your home. You must enter this code when you install the PC software.
1.4   I lost my Print Link ID. How do I get a new one / find it etc?
Tune to the Canon Photo Channel on your TV and select the "My Account" button. Your Print Link ID will be displayed along with other account information.
1.5   I lost my welcome kit e-mail. Where do I find the information necessary to install the PC software?
Tune to the Canon Photo Channel on your TV and select the "My Account" button. Your User ID and Print Link ID will be displayed along with other account information. Your PIN number is the last 4 digits of your Time Warner Cable account number (check your latest cable bill).
1.6   Why do I need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader?
Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to print photos you have selected from your TV screen.  If you choose to install the Print TV Link software, it will only allow you to print if you have Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later installed. Acrobat Reader is available as a free download from Adobe Systems at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
1.7   What is my?
A.   User ID?
You will need to enter your User ID when uploading photos using the PC software. You can also give out your User ID to friends who also have the Canon Photo Channel so they can share albums with you. You can see your User ID on the top of the Start Page of the Canon Photo Channel on your TV.
B.   PIN?
You will need to enter your PIN when uploading photos using the PC software. By default, your PIN is the last 4 digits of your Time Warner Cable account number. For security, we do not display your PIN on the My Account screen.
C.   Photo e-mail address?
Your Photo E-mail address is a special e-mail address to allow you to view photos on your TV sent to you through e-mail. Give this address to your friends and family and tell them to send photos. Any JPEG photos sent to this address will appear in your Photos from Friends e-mail Inbox. When new photos arrive, a green light in the Photos from Friends button will blink.
D.   Print Link ID?
The Print Link ID is a unique 12 character code that links your PC software with the digital cable box (or boxes) in your home. You must enter this code when you install the Print TV Link PC software.
1.8   Can I upload photos from more than one computer?
You can install the PC Upload software (Photo TV Link) on multiple computers, but make sure that you only install the PC Printing software (Print TV Link) on a single computer. If you have multiple computers with Print TV Link running, your photo prints might end up going to the wrong printer.
1.9   How do I use the PC software?
To run the software, double-click the Photo TV Link icon on your desktop or go to your Start menu and select Canon Photo Channel > Photo TV Link
A.   To select photos from your computer
From the window on the left side, choose the folder that contains your photos. Select photos by clicking with your mouse. You can select multiple photos by holding down the Ctrl key while you click, or you can select a continuous number of photos by clicking the first photo you want to select, then hold down the Shift key and click another photo to select all photos in between. You can also click on the Select All button at the top of the screen to select all of the photos in a folder.
B.   To upload photos
After selecting the photos you wish to upload, enter your User ID and PIN, then click the Upload button.  Your photos will be automatically transferred to your account.
1.10  Why is there a printer icon in my system tray?
The printer icon shows you that Print TV Link is currently running. You can click this icon to see a list of manual print jobs, or to view status of automatic print jobs.
1.11  Why aren't my photos uploading?
Check your Internet connection. You must be connected to the Internet in order to upload photos to your account. If you see the message "Not enough space on the server", this means you do not have enough storage space left in your account to store any more photos. Before you can upload additional photos, you will need to delete some of the photos in your account. Please note that photos in your e-mail inbox also count against your storage space, so don't forget to check your mailbox in Photos from Friends.
2 Viewing a Slideshow
2.1   How do you use the slideshow?
There are two ways to start a full-screen slideshow:

Method #1
1.   Select an album containing the photos you want to view.
2.   Select the Slideshow button to bring up the first photo in your album.
3.   Select the Play button to begin a self-running slideshow or use the
Next button to advance to the next photo in the album.

Method #2
1.   Select an album containing the photos you want to view.
2.   Select a photo within the album to bring up the single photo view.
3.   Select the photo again to begin a slideshow with the selected photo.
4.   Select the Play button to begin a self-running slideshow or use the
Next button to advance to the next photo in the album.
2.2   How do you stop the slideshow?
If the slideshow is playing in full-screen, press the Select button on your remote control to bring back the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. Select the Stop button in the menu bar to exit the slideshow.
2.3   Can I display photos from multiple albums in a slideshow?
No.  A slideshow is limited to a single album only. However, if you want to combine photos from multiple albums into a single slideshow, you can use the Copy feature to copy photos from multiple albums into a new album. Please note that multiple copies count against your maximum storage allocation.  You can also move photos from one album to another and thus create a combined album for the slideshow.
3 Printing Photos
3.1   I clicked print, where are the photos supposed to print?
If you installed the Print TV Link software, your photos will print to the printer connected to your PC.
3.2   Can I print multiple photos at a time?
Yes.  Here's how:

1.   Make sure you are viewing your photos on the "My Photos", "Photos From Friends", or e-mail Inbox screen (you should see 6 photo thumbnails here).
2.   Select the Print button. Your screen should change to show boxes beneath each photo thumbnail.
3.   Move the yellow rectangle to the boxes below the pictures you want to print and press select to add checkboxes to the desired photos.
4.   Select the Quick Print button to Auto-print at default size or select Continue>> to choose different sizes or multiple quantities.
3.3   What is the difference between an Automatic and a Manual print job?
When you print from your TV, selecting Auto-Print will send the printed page(s) directly to the default printer using default printer settings (e.g. paper type, quality, etc.).

If you want to print your photos on specialty photo paper, you should select Manual-Print from your TV, then go to your PC and click the printer icon in your system tray. Click the "Photo Prints" job on the list to view the page(s) to be printed, and click the printer icon at the top of the screen to bring up your printer options.  Select the paper type and any other desired settings and click OK to begin printing.
3.4   Does this system work with my non-Canon camera / printer?
Yes.  The uploader software, Photo TV Link, works with any JPEG image files that you have stored on your computer, regardless of the digital camera or scanner model. The printing software, Print TV Link, works with any printer you have connected to your PC.   Photo TV Link Direct, however, only works with Canon PowerShot digital cameras.
3.5   Why aren't my photos printing?

1.   Make sure you have installed the Print TV Link software on your PC. You should see a printer icon in your system tray (bottom right corner of your Windows desktop).
2.   Check your Internet connection. Print jobs are sent through the Internet to your PC.
3.   If you selected Manual-Print from your TV screen, you must click on the printer icon in your system tray to select the print job you want to print. Click the printer icon at the top of the screen to bring up the Print window. Click on the Properties button to bring up your printer options.  Select the paper type and any other desired settings and click OK to begin printing.
4 Sharing and Receiving Photos from Friends
4.1   How can my friends send photos to my Photo Channel?
There are two ways to receive photos from friends:

1.   By e-mail: Give out your photo e-mail address to all your friends (If you ever forget this address, you can always refer back to it by selecting My Account from the main screen.) When they send photos to this special e-mail address, the pictures will appear in your Inbox in Photos from Friends.  Photos shared via your special e-mail address count against your storage space. Note: tell your friends not to bother writing a note because any text is discarded – only the photo shows up.
2.   By User ID: Give out your User ID to other photo channel subscribers. They can share entire albums right from their TV to yours. Photos shared via your User ID do not count against your storage space. Note: for security reasons, do not give out your PIN number to anyone.
4.2   Can I send photos to friends who don’t have the Canon Photo Channel?
Yes. Enter your friend’s e-mail address in your share list. They will receive an e-mail message with a link to view your album over the Internet.
4.3   I know someone else who also has the Canon Photo Channel. Can I send them photos that they can see on their TV?
Yes.  Ask them for their User ID and enter this in your share list. When you share an album with them, they can see it in Photos from Friends.
4.4   Why is my share list empty on the TV?
Before you can share photos with others, you must enter them in your Share List using your PC software.
4.5   How do I add people to my share list and send them my photos?
Use the Photo TV Link software on your PC to add all your friends' e-mail addresses or User IDs to your share list. Here's how:

1.   Launch the Photo TV Link software on your PC.
2.   Enter your User ID and PIN (from your Welcome e-mail).
3.   Click on the Share List button at the top of the window. Your Share List will open in a browser window.
4.   Click the Add button.
5.   Enter a Nickname (10 characters or less) to easily identify your friend.
6.   Enter your friend's e-mail address (if they don’t have the Photo Channel) or User ID (if they do have the Photo Channel).

Once you have set up your Share List, here's how to use it::

1.   In My Photos screen on your TV, navigate to the album you want to share and select it.
2.   Select the Share button.
3.   Choose the people you want to share with by placing a checkmark next to each person’s nickname.
4.   Select the Share Now button to finish.
4.6  How do I block an unwanted sender from my e-mail inbox?
The first time you receive e-mailed photos from a new sender, you will see the Confirm E-Mailed Photo screen. On this screen you can from one of three options:

Select View if you recognize the e-mail address and want to accept all future photos sent from this person.

Select Block E-Mail if you want to block all future photos from this sender.

Select Block Domain if you want to block all future photos from anyone sending them from this domain (the part of the e-mail address after the @ sign).

4.7  Oops, I blocked someone by accident. How do I "un-block" them so I can receive photos from them?
If you ever want to view the list of blocked senders or "un-block" someone, just go to your TV and select Photos From Friends, then select the Inbox. From the Inbox, select the Options button. This will bring you to the Block List screen where you can view the e-mail addresses or domains you have blocked. If you remove any entry on the list, you will be able to receive photos from this person in the future.
4.8  Can I download the photos in my Photos from Friends Inbox to my PC?
Yes.  You can access the Canon Photo Channel on the Web to download individual photos.  Click Here to display the Photo Channel login screen, enter your User ID and PIN then click Log In to go to your account on the web. Select Photos from Friends. Click on the Inbox, and then click the thumbnail of the photo you want to download. You will see a small disk icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Click on it and select Save. Repeat this for each photo that you want to download to your PC.
5 General troubleshooting
5.1   What channel is the Canon Photo Channel on?
Channel 90, on digital cable only.
5.2   I tuned to Channel 90 and it says "Not Authorized".
If you signed up through the website, it may take up to 2 working days to activate your account.  Once your account is activated, you will receive a "Welcome Kit" e-mail with your account information.   If you have received this e-mail, but are still getting the "Service not activated" message, please contact customer service.
5.3   How do I use the remote control with the Canon Photo Channel?
Use the up, down, left, and right arrow buttons on the remote control to move the yellow rectangle around the screen. Use the Select >button to select the highlighted item. The A and B buttons allow you to jump quickly to the starting screen. The C button refreshes the screen.
5.4   When I turn to the Photo Channel, it takes a few seconds to show the
Start screen. Why is it so slow?

The Canon Photo Channel is a new type of digital service. Unlike a regular TV channel, what you see on the Photo Channel is prepared specifically for you, not broadcast to everyone in your neighborhood. As a result, it takes a few extra seconds to establish a private communication line directly between the cable office and your set-top box.
5.5   Why can't I see this channel on all my TVs?
The Canon Photo Channel is only available on TVs equipped with digital cable boxes. If you have a mixture of digital cable and basic cable boxes in your home, only the digital cable boxes will be able to tune to the Photo Channel.
5.6   How do I retrieve my photos if I decide to cancel my account?
You can access the Canon Photo Channel on the Web to download individual photos. Click Here, enter your User ID and PIN and click Log In. Click on View My Photos, select an album, and then select any photo within that album.

Note that there is a
disk icon in the
bottom right corner
of the picture frame.

Click this icon and
you will be prompted
to download and save
the picture to your
hard drive.

Repeat this for all of
the pictures you want
to download.
5.7   I accidentally deleted one or more photos from my account. How do I get
them back?

Your photos are not deleted from your computer or digital camera at the time of upload, so you can always upload them again if you happen to delete them from your Photo Channel. If you no longer have the original files, contact customer service to see if they can be retrieved from the server.
5.8   My cable box stopped responding and the screen is frozen. What should I do?
First, try changing the channel. If it still does not respond, please follow these steps:

1.   Turn off your cable box by unplugging the power cord.  Note: the Power button on the box only puts it in "bypass" mode.
2.   Wait a few seconds, then plug the power cord back in. It will take a few seconds to start back up.
3.   Press the Power button on the front of the box.

If this still does not resolve the problem, please contact customer service.
5.9   How do I block access to this channel from my children?
The digital cable parental control system works for this channel just like any other channel.  Please consult the documentation you received with your digital cable box.
